Remember: All undergraduate students, and certain graduate students, must complete and file an Application for Degree Form ("degree card") before February 1, 2008. (Law students do not need to fill out the Graduate School's degree forms. Law students who are graduating with dual degrees (e.g. MBA, MSW) may need to fill out these forms. Eligibility

Students who have processed application to candidacy forms, filed for degree with an expected conferral date of Feb. 1, June 1, or Sept. 1,2008; and who remain in good academic standing; may participate in commencement.

Graduating students who wish to participate in this ceremony must register online. Registration Deadline: March 7, 2008.


FAQs

How long is the ceremony? About 2 hours with a reception to follow.

Does Architecture and Planning have its own ceremony? Yes - all programs offered in the SA&P graduate together. All programs are recognized separately and every student walks separately.

Where do my guests park? Townsend and Parker Lots. There will be signs directing guests where to park - including disabled parking.

How many tickets am I allowed? Five tickets - First-come first-serve seating. Seating begins at 1:00 pm

What if I need more than five tickets? Due to the number of graduating students and the capacity limitations, five tickets is the maximum per student. If you are looking for additional tickets, ask your classmates who may not be using all 5 of their guest tickets.

When and where do I get my tickets? Tickets will be mailed to your permanent address of record in mid April.

Is special handicapped seating provided? Yes, it is. Please contact Ruth Bryant (716-829-3485 ext 120) to make arrangements in advance. Ushers will be assigned to seat guests who are handicapped. Only one family member is allowed to accompany the individual requiring handicapped seating. The rest of the family will be asked to wait until 1:00 PM when the other guests are permitted to be seated.

Are individual names announced? Yes. You will be asked to provide guidance on pronunciation of your name.

Where do I first report and when? Crosby Hall at 12:30 PM.

Will further instructions be received by students? Instructions for students attending the ceremony will be e-mailed in early April..

How do I order a cap and gown? Through the University Bookstore. See Cap & Gown section for more information. Architecture color is blue/violet; Environmental Design tassel is blue/white; Planning is brown.

May I wear special honors cords or other insignia on my gown? Yes

I will not complete my degree in May. May I still march in the ceremony? If you have not met all the requirements to be on the official graduation list you still may participate in the School of Architecture and Planning Commencement Ceremony. However your name may not appear in the program. Please visit the registration site for additional information.

When will I receive my diploma? The Student Response Center mails all diplomas to your PERMANENT ADDRESS within six weeks of commencement.
Note: Students are responsible for making address changes.

Is the ceremony videotaped and available for purchase? No. We do have a professional photographer taking each class and many candid shots throughout the event.
